Strange FruitΒ is a piece inspired by and named after the song "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday,Β which discusses the lynching of African Americans, adding a layer of historical and social commentary to the visual metaphor of the apple, representing both life and temptation, and rope and the binding connection of these two themes. The shadow of the rope depicting a snake builds on the depth of imagery, alluding to the original sin in the Bible.
